Galería sin Fronteras

En 1986, se abrió una pequeña galería comercial en el barrio este de Austin, Texas, en un vecindario predominantemente mexicano. Inspirada por los ideales de la hermana Karen Boccalero (1933-97) y la misión de conciencia social de Self-Help Graphics en East Los Ángeles, Galería sin Fronteras se especializó en arte chicano, latinoamericano y caribeño. Durante trece años la galería ha jugado un papel decisivo al comisionar obras nuevas, coordinar exposiciones y promover a los artistas latinos emergentes. Su enfoque de “primera voz”originó exposiciones que estaban concientemente conectadas con las realidades sociales y políticas de su comunidad.

Esta exposición exhibe obras de arte chicano de la colección del profesor Gilberto Cárdenas, fundador de Galería sin Fronteras.
